We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Contract Solicitor to join our growing Corporate & Commercial team. This is a key role in our Corporate & Commercial team to take the lead within this area of the business.
This position will be based full-time in our Marks Tey office but offer advice across our wider office network. You will provide services to our existing and new clients on commercial and bespoke contracts, along with terms and conditions for the supply of goods and/or services across a wide range of different sectors.
You will join an established team of 7. However, this role has been identified to separate the commercial contract area, with a view to building this offering as a standalone dedicated service within the Corporate and Commercial team.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years PQE and above.
- Running own matters with little or no supervision.
- Excellent working knowledge of commercial and contract law is essential, with experience of related areas such as intellectual property, E-commerce, data protection and consumer law.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements.
- Experience should include some niche areas of contract law such as: software, IT, telecoms, sports, gaming, gambling, media, distribution, agency, franchise, consumer credit, charity, local authority, procurement, NHS, manufacturing, transport, Incoterms, international or others.
- Advising clients on complex and technical commercial matters and achieving the desired outcomes for clients.
- Training and supervising more junior members of the team and delegating work.
- Working closely with the firm's corporate, litigation and employment offering on joint projects.
- Carrying out commercial contract due diligence reviews on corporate transactions or in general for clients.
- Experience of marketing and networking for commercial contract services and winning new commercial contract work.
- Speaking at events and delivering presentations on aspects of commercial contracts.
- Offering commercial contract training to clients and internally.
- Offering different service structures and pricing options to clients, including commercial contract retainer services and helplines.
- Reviewing and advising on commercial contracts internally for the firm.
- Contributing to business plans and delivering agreed objectives.
- Growing and developing a service offering through internal and external networking, offering excellent client service and providing website and social media content.
- Passion for commercial contract work including the supply of goods and/or services across different sectors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly and effectively to non-legal business owners, directors and managers.
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Strong client facing and relationship building skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A passion for providing and being able to deliver excellent client service.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a wider team.
- Results orientated in ensuring plans are stuck to and achieved with positive outcomes.
- Ability to delegate work that can be dealt with by more junior members of the team and supervise and manage others.
- Motivating others in the team and being a positive example for junior members of the team to learn from.
