The Role
Based in our Sudbury office, you will provide services to our existing and new clients on matters such as claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975 and the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996, estoppel claims, claims challenging the validity of wills, trust disputes, executor disputes, and disputes involving mutual wills amongst others. Specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Managing correspondence and document files for individual clients according to H&H standards
- Working to deadlines, to prioritise and manage a varied caseload
- Running your own claims with supervision
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and other professional contacts
- Assisting the senior members of the team
- Attending networking and business development events
Dependent on experience, you will have your own caseload and assist on larger scale claims.
Recent examples of work the team has acted on:
- Settlement at mediation of a multi-party case for financial provision involving issues of domicile, foreign assets, infant parties and validity of marriage.
- Representing a client bringing a claim to establish their beneficial interest in an estate.
- Advising multiple beneficiaries on a claim enforcing a charge upon a property to enhance their share of an estate.
- Advising as to the entering and removal of caveats.
- Representing adult children on their claims for financial provision.
- Negotiating deeds of variation when concerns over testamentary capacity and undue influence have arisen.
- Representing clients in successfully proving wills have been invalidly executed.
- Representing an adult child on a claim for estoppel.
What experience do I need?
The role would suit a newly/recently qualified Solicitor ( or a Trainee nearing the end of their Training Contract) and who ideally will have some knowledge and experience of contentious probate work or have undertaken private client and/or litigation seats during the course of their training contract.
You must have a desire to specialise in this fascinating and thriving area of law.
